Melvin is the owner and qualifying broker for Red Hills Realty LLC, a boutique real estate services provider nestled between the Over-the-Mountain cities of Homewood and Mt. Brook.

As a child, Melvin’s passion was for the board game Monopoly. Since that time, he has worked hard to refine his skills in the finance and real estate arenas. After graduating with honors (Summa Cum Laude)from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS., Melvin started his career in public accounting with KPMG Peat Marwick. He enjoyed a successful career in accounting and banking before migrating into real estate in 1997. Over the next ten years, Melvin and his wife, Jill, flipped over 150 houses in the Birmingham area. In addition, Melvin obtained his Home Builder’s License to help him with his real estate investment business.

In 2007, Melvin started Red Hills Realty. The agency has steadily grown over the past 4 years and now has 13 active agents. Despite the real estate market downturn, Red Hills has experienced steady growth due to a focus on extraordinary customer service and expertise in internet marketing.

Melvin is very active in his community. He serves on an Advisory Board for the American Cancer Society and a member of the Homewood Rotary Club. In addition, he is an active supporter of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and Hand-in-Paw. Melvin & Jill are very active in various ministries of their church, Our Lady of Sorrows.

Melvin is a physical fitness enthusiast. As a member of the Mountain Brook YMCA, he works out six times a week, alternating extreme cardio workouts with weight lifting and P90X.

Melvin and Jill, a former tennis pro, currently live in the Hollywood section of Homewood, where they have built two homes.
