River Chase Community Swim and Tennis

Riverside is the western residential district of the city with winding & hilly terrain, bordering the Chattahoochee River and forming the western border with Cobb County. The main roads are Heards Ferry Road and Riverside Drive which has easy access to I-285. Homes for sale in this area are large estates on ½ acre or larger lots in many of the communities in the area. Many communities offer optional swim and tennis clubs, and River Chase also offers direct access to the Chattahoochee.

The Panhandle (the area between the Chattahoochee River, city of Dunwoody, GA 400 & Peachtree Corners) is a residential area with the primary roads being Dunwoody Club Drive and Spalding Drive, and Northridge Road provides access to Georgia 400. Many communities offer swim and tennis, and Steel Canyon Golf Club as well as Cherokee Town & Country Club are also located nearby for those looking for more amenities.

Perimeter Center is a commercial edge city and business district surrounding Perimeter Mall. Although about 40% of Perimeter Center, including the mall, is located in Dunwoody, the western 60%, including most of the area’s office towers, are located in Sandy Springs. “Pill Hill” is located in the Sandy Springs section of Perimeter Center, and includes Northside HospitalEmory St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This part of Sandy Springs is the largest medical center in Georgia, and includes the Sandy Springs and Medical Center MARTA stations.

North Springs is the large northernmost area of the city, and is west of GA 400, east of Brandon Mill Road and the Chattahoochee River, and north of Abernathy Road. The North Springs MARTA station, the terminus of the MARTA Red Line, serves the district.

Sandy Springs ITP is the portion of the city which extends south of I-285 (inside the perimeter). “The Perimeter” is the local reference for the loop of 285, and residents describe anything outside the perimeter “OTP” and inside the perimeter “ITP”. The ITP neighborhood is generally more affluent than the northern side as this part of Sandy Springs borders with Chastain Park and the Buckhead area.

Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center is a complex located in City Springs which features a main theatre called the Byers Theatre, the Studio Theatre for smaller productions, and CityBar. offers drinks before the show. Above the Studio Theatre is an open-air rentable City View Terrace for an intimate performance or reception. The Heritage Sandy Springs Museum is dedicated to the history of the Sandy Springs community from home of Native Americans, farmers, to a modern-day suburb of Atlanta. The Anne Frank Exhibit – Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945 was developed by the Anne Frank House and is currently hosted by the City of Sandy Springs. This exhibit uses over 500 photographs to tell the story of Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl who kept a diary while she hid with her family from the Nazis in Amsterdam. It is the site of the original underground springs for which the city is named and is anchored by the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum.
